Mini Comics Making in Newcastle 2012
Following the success of last year’s event Canny Comic Con is running a Mini-Comics Making workshop on Saturday 21st of April between 1.00 and 5.00 in Newcastle City Library. It is free and open to all regardless of age or prior comic making experience. Everyone is welcome to come along at any time and give it a try.
It is not an actual Comic Convention, more of a laid-back workshop and presentation event about comics. Based on the Annual Mini-Comics Day, it’s open to everyone who wants to have a go at making a comic from start to finish throughout the afternoon. Everyone leaves at the end of the day with a comic that they’ve made themselves.

Mini-Comics can be about any subject whatsoever. Whether it’s an illustrated diary, reviews of local events, poems, jokes, adventure stories or just your collected thoughts, Mini-Comics are a great way to start creating comics. They are small, easy, quick and fun to make. They can be in any style from traditional action comic to handmade collage zine format; whatever you can imagine you can make into a comic.
Between 11:45 and 1:00 before the workshop starts there will be some Comic Wisdom presentations from local comic creators; Paul Thompson and Ingi Jensson. These will be about comics, visual story telling and styles. Titled “Comics: Words + Pictures where Space = Time” and “Embracing our own originality, the dangers involved”.
Comics Wisdom Presentations are free, but pre-booking with the library is essential as spaces are limited.
Find them on Facebook as 'Newcastle Mini Comic Making 2012' and be sure to pop along and support your local comic based events.
